Hotel Felix Is Our Happy Place

Hotel Felix Is Our Happy Place

The name Felix means happy. So naturally, Hotel Felix in River North is our happy place! They are the first hotel in Chicago with a Gold LEED certification by using organic materials and renewable resources. They are also energy efficient down to their plumbing. In addition to being green, they are a luxury boutique hotel bringing you an exquisite, first-class experience.

When entering your room at Hotel Felix you can expect a clean, contemporary room with energy efficient lighting, recycled carpeting, and a bathroom with efficient plumbing and all-natural bath amentities. Only eco-friendly cleaners are used when cleaning the rooms and washing linens and they do not use any bleach. Read more about their eco-friendly initiatives here. They are also in the process of adding to Chicago's 300 green roofs. We love you Felix!

About Little Bits

Our goal is to provide locals with healthy, earth-friendly content in a fresh and simple way. We’ll do the research for you and share all the local “green” info we can find, including: restaurants, products & technology, local shopping, fun events, great ways to give, quick tips and more. We understand that it’s practically impossible to live in a modern society and not leave an environmental impact, but we believe that we can all change something to make it better. Let us be your resource for a more nourishing relationship with your mind, body and earth – even if it’s only a little bit at a time!

Diane Ott Whealy, expert gardener and co-founder of Seed Savers Exchange, shares her experience designing and planting heirloom flowers, vegetables, and herbs. Copies of her new book, Gathering, Memoir of a SeedSaver, will be available for purchase and signing. During the seed swap, gardeners can bring saved or leftover seed packets (vegetables, herbs, and flowers) to share and swap with other gardeners. Chicago Botanic Garden volunteers will be on hand displaying varieties recommended for Chicago gardens and will demonstrate how to save seeds and start them indoors.
