Next time you have some old clothes or a couch to throw away, remember The Brown Elephant Resale Shop. Someone’s trash becomes your treasure at this popular shop with locations in Andersonville, Wrigleyville and Oak Park. Reusing everyday items is one of the easiest and economical ways to go green and there are some great finds at The Brown Elephant. In addition, all the revenue generated from donations and purchases there help fund services for more than 50% of the Howard Brown Health Center clients who are under- or un-insured. Read on to learn how this elephant will never forget your generosity.

With more than 740,000 items purchased each year by upwards of 220,000 visitors annually, The Brown Elephant always has a great selection of items. They accept and resell everything from clothing and furniture, to housewares and jewelry and everything in between. They offer free pickup service and your donation is tax deductible so it’s even easier to get rid of that old couch and give it a new home. They have also expanded their pickup areas to include Hyde Park, Berwyn, Riverside, LaGrange, Hillside, Highland Park and many others neighborhoods. Visit their website for more information and to arrange for your items to be collected.

About Little Bits

Our goal is to provide locals with healthy, earth-friendly content in a fresh and simple way. We’ll do the research for you and share all the local “green” info we can find, including: restaurants, products & technology, local shopping, fun events, great ways to give, quick tips and more. We understand that it’s practically impossible to live in a modern society and not leave an environmental impact, but we believe that we can all change something to make it better. Let us be your resource for a more nourishing relationship with your mind, body and earth – even if it’s only a little bit at a time!
